Job Overview: As a Houseman at Hotel Domestique, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, orderliness, and smooth functioning of our hotel. You will work closely with the guest services, housekeeping and maintenance teams to maintain high standards of cleanliness, assist with various tasks, and create a welcoming environment for our guests. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Greeting guests and bringing luggage to guests’ rooms. 
  • Assist the housekeeping team in cleaning and maintaining public areas, and back-of-house spaces. 
  • Running and bussing room service orders. 
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials. 
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors as needed. 
  • Clean and sanitize surfaces, fixtures, and furnishings to maintain a pristine appearance. 
  • Setting up and servicing the pool area/pool house for guest use. 
  • Watering the various plants and flowers on property. 
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of concierge requests such as massages and bike rentals. 
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to promptly address any maintenance issues or repairs. 
  • Maintain supplies and report replenishment needs to the supervisor. 
  • Respond promptly to guest requests or concerns in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Assist in the delivery of guest amenities, linens, and other supplies. 
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following safety guidelines and protocols. 
  • Provide support to the overall operations of the hotel as needed. 

Qualifications:  

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or related roles is a plus. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness. 
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb stairs, and perform physically demanding tasks. 
  • Effective communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset. 
  • Team player who can collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments. 
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. 
  • Basic understanding of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing tasks and priorities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES / PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

  • Ability to perform all house person-related tasks and proficiently use job-related tools and equipment. 
  • Ability to remain calm in various situations, use sound judgment and effectively solve problems. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals. 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize and multi-task. 
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Houseman is regularly required to see, hear, reach, use fingers to handle and feel, stand, stoop, bend and crouch up to 8 hours daily. 
  • Push, pull, and lift to 50 lbs. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to travel by foot, car, bus, airplane, or other means of transportation which require sitting, waiting, and standing for long and short periods of time. 
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands, more than or less than 40 hours with or without notice.

  • You must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.
